One Book, One School Book Discussion Group

The Westmont High School Media Center is announcing the beginning of the, "One Book, One School" program where we have fun discussing interesting literature. The first title in this program will be, Uglies by Scott Westerfield. This book was the 2007 Abraham Lincoln Award Winner for the Illinois School Library Media Association sponsored event, and was chosen by Illinois High School students for it's interesting subject matter and literary merit.

Come join us at the Westmont, Panera Bread on Wednesday, July 16th at noon and Monday, August 18th at noon to discuss this great book. Come to Panera Bread after the Map Training, and have some "food for thought" with your lunch or snack purchase. If you need a copy of the book to get started please see Ms. Sabio in the Media Center. Thanks

I really enjoyed reading the 2009 Jodi Picoult Book entitled, Tenth Circle. I would recommend it to people who like to read about controversial issues

If you enjoyed reading "The Giver" by Lois Lowry, the Newbery award winning book about a utopian society where young adults had to wrestle with difficult issues, then you will enjoy reading, "Uglies" too.

In the meantime, I hope you all have a great summer and I hope to find out what you like about the book "Uglies."

I liked the theme, or message, of this "Uglies" book, and not as much the story. Every Westmont HS student should read this book because they, too, can learn from this inspiring message that Westerfeld wrote to share to the young readers of the globe!

The Book Discussion was at Paneras today and was interesting... I enjoyed it and furthermore enjoyed listening and discussing about this book and its inspiring theme!

Keep on the reading (and discussing) throughout the year!
